International Festival of Handicrafts

Date
10 September 2025 - 13 October 2025
Time
10:00 - 17:00
Location
Kokand
According to the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan on the “Organization of the International Festival of Handicrafts,” the festival is held biannually in Kokand.
It is worth noting that the international festival is held in Kokand because the Fergana Valley is known as the homeland of skilled artisans: pottery is widely practiced in Rishton district, while silk fabrics are produced in Margilan. Traditional crafts such as knife-making, wood carving, and embroidery have flourished in Kokand.
The festival features master artisans, applied arts specialists, industry experts, and honorary guests from foreign countries, alongside the various craft-related exhibitions organized around the festival grounds at the O’rdaoldi square. Visitors also witness the creation of handmade items, works of visual and applied art, ancient craft tools, and products. Artistic and documentary films, books, albums, and photographic exhibitions in the craft sector are also showcased.
Demonstrations of traditional costumes, comic performances, and shows by folklore and acrobatic troupes will further enhance the festive atmosphere.
One of the festival’s main objectives is to provide comprehensive support for artisans and promote our rich cultural heritage to the global community.
The festival is organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the “Hunarmand” Association, and the local governments of the Fergana Region.
In short, this international festival highlights the ancient history and cultural life of our people, showcasing the multifaceted nature of our intangible cultural heritage in Uzbek national crafts, promoting its unique examples, and strengthening friendship and cooperation between nations through shared experiences. Additionally, it plays a significant role in enhancing international cultural and humanitarian connections and preserving and revitalizing the traditional craftsmanship passed down through generations.
