The second international scientific-practical seminar on “Ways to Restore Endangered Carpet Types of Uzbekistan” is currently being held online in Samarkand by the Silk Road International Research Institute.
R. Mirzaaxmedov, the chairman of the “Hunarmand” Association, participated in the seminar.
The seminar focuses on the revival of disappearing traditional carpet weaving techniques and materials and the development of modern handwoven carpet industries. This issue is especially relevant in light of the attention given to the carpet industry by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Preserving the carpet heritage is important in the national economy and export trade.
The seminar aims to draw attention to Uzbek carpet-weaving traditions. It is not only scientifically and practically significant but also socially necessary. The seminar plans to involve women, girls, and housewives in traditional carpet production and provide them with home-based working conditions.
The seminar also includes a special exhibition of handwoven carpets created using modern methods while preserving Uzbek carpet-weaving traditions.
